bandit :

Throughout the centuries, bridges have inspired some of our loftiest, most thrilling tales, stories that will outlast the very bridges that inspired them. The Bridge of San Luis Rey. The Bridge on the River Kwai. The Bridges of Madison County. Saturday Night Fever.

Add another to the canon.

Jonathan Sanchez's Bandit is an album of nine stories featuring a crane operator, a Wild Wing waitress, two massage therapists, a moonshine runner, the great white hope of the elite middle-distance circuit, and a pair of socks. All are participants, willing or not, one way or the other, in the Cooper River Bridge Run.

It all started at a small reading in his living room. The week before the 1999 Bridge Run, Sanchez performed a story about a deranged psychiatric patient who taunts his former therapist throughout the 10-K race.

No other major Charleston event, not Spoleto, not the SEWE Festival, not Bowenstock, has inspired a work of fiction, but the Bridge Run now has Bandit.
